Toronto (September 19, 2019) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is concerned by an ongoing white supremacist sticker campaign in Owen Sound, Ontario. The stickers were first reported in public areas across the city in July, and reports suggest that the campaign is ongoing, with new stickers appearing as recently as this week. The stickers feature a range of images such as Ku Klux Klan and white nationalist slogans.

According to reports, Owen Sound Police are investigating the sticker campaign within their Criminal Investigations Branch. Anyone who spots the stickers are being asked not to touch or remove them, but instead to report their location to police at 519-376-1234.

“It is alarming to see such a campaign of hate in Owen Sound,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “We ask residents to be vigilant and report relevant information to police, and we ask law enforcement to dedicate themselves to a full investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and face hate crime charges.”

FSWC is following up with the Owen Sound Police and Mayor’s office to ensure action is being taken and to offer educational programs aimed at addressing hate in the community.
