Today marked the first day of our London area trip organized by the Thames Valley District School Board. Over the next 2 weeks we will be at 10 local high schools in the board. Today Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) Educator Daniella started the week at a secondary school in south London, where she worked with Grades 10-12 students. The Grades 11 and 12 classes saw the Global Perspectives workshop and the Grade 10 class participated in the Canadian Experience. During a Grade 11 Sociology class Daniella was able to dispel common myths and conspiracies. This started when a student asked her whether she believed that Hitler had committed suicide in 1945 - Daniella said she did and then asked the class who had heard otherwise. When a few tentative hands went up Daniella explained where such conspiracies often come from and she stressed the importance of questioning sources and material.
