FSWC Monitoring Investigation After York Region Schools Defaced with Swastikas

Toronto (January 30, 2020) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is monitoring the police investigation after two schools in York Region were defaced with hate graffiti, including swastikas.

These incidents occurred at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School and Sacred Heart Catholic High School, both located in Newmarket.

FSWC has been in communication with York Regional Police, which is actively investigating these incidents through their Criminal Investigations Bureau. Police report they are optimistic they will be able to identify the perpetrator(s).

FSWC is also reaching out to the schools involved to offer programming on antisemitism and the Holocaust.
