B3.5 identify various groups andorganizations that work to improve quality of life (e.g., Free the Children,International Planned Parenthood Federation, Médecins sans Frontières/Doctorswithout Borders, Right to Play, Water for People), and describe their focus.
June is a month full of important days suchas the InternationalDay for Countering Hate Speech, National Indigenous Peoples Day and WorldRefugee Day. With the school year coming to an end, students have learned aboutnumerous days that bring awareness to a variety of groups. One way tosynthesize their learning is to research the groups and organizations that workto better the lives of others. Many wonderful groups and organizations acrossCanada work not only to bring awareness to the plight of others, but toactively improve their quality of life. Groups such as Rainbow Railroad, oreven our very own organization, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, are someexamples, but there are hundreds of groups to choose from. As students havemore awareness of how support organizations function, it may just inspire thenext generation of leaders.
