Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) has learned of antisemitic messages that were found at a crime scene in Edson, Alberta where a man driving a stolen vehicle also drove through the town’s provincial building and courthouse.
“Regardless of the suspect’s intentions, messages of hate and intolerance cannot be welcomed in any town. Condemnations from the town’s mayor and other leaders are sincerely appreciated,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo.
The man has been taken into custody, and police are investigating the case as a hate crime. The last time the town faced an attack against a religion was last year when a local mosque was targeted by an arsonist.
