Relief as NDP Pulls Plug on Campaign Against IHRA Definition of Antisemitism

An effort by radical voices within the NDP to have the federal party reject the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism has failed. A resolution calling on the NDP to oppose the IHRA definition of antisemitism was to be voted on by NDP members at the party’s convention that took place this past weekend, but in the end was not prioritized and did not make it to the floor.

Suspect Identified After Hate Graffiti Discovered at Chabad Centre in Victoria

Victoria Police say a suspect has been identified amid an investigation into antisemitic graffiti that appeared at the Chabad Centre for Jewish Life and Learning in Victoria last week just prior to Yom HaShoah.

In a news release, FSWC's Michael Levitt called the graffiti "shocking and sickening" and stated the "Jewish community will not be intimidated and will continue to fight the hate and bigotry that continue to exist in this country."

Wiesenthal Centre Shocked at Justice Denied in the Sarah Halimi Murder Case: 'A Devastating Blow!'

The Simon Wiesenthal Centre is profoundly distressed by France’s Supreme Court's final say concerning the legality of the Paris Appeals Court decision, denying the criminal responsibility of the murderer of Sarah Halimi, a decision the SWC called a "devastating blow."

Early in the night of April 4, 2017, the 65-year-old Jewish woman and former teacher, Halimi, was attacked in her home by a neighbour, who beat her for an apparently endless 50 minutes while screaming “Allahu Akhbar” and flung her from the 3rd floor balcony.
