Hamilton Man Faces Antisemitism, Advocating Genocide Charges After Investigation into Online Threats

A 32-year-old Hamilton man faces five charges after a months-long investigation into online threats against the Jewish community. After being charged in October with one count of uttering threats to cause death and for failing to comply with probation, he was charged last week with one count each of advocating genocide, wilful promotion of hatred and wilful promotion of antisemitism.

Bnai Brith Canada CEO Michael Mostyn Dies at 50

In a statement yesterday, B'nai Brith Canada announced the passing of CEO Michael Mostyn.

FSWC is deeply saddened by Michael's passing. Michael was a steadfast advocate for the Jewish community and a dedicated leader in the fight against antisemitism. His unwavering commitment to justice and human rights has made a profound impact on our community and Canada as a whole. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.

Witnesses Sought After Three Hate-Motivated Graffiti Incidents at Whitby Libraries

For the third time this year, swastika graffiti was found in a washroom at a public library in Whitby, Ont. Durham police were at the Central Whitby Library Branch collecting video footage from an incident on Monday, Jan. 27, when library staff discovered more Nazi symbols in a washroom on Jan. 28.

The U.S. Justice Department said it formed a multi-agency task force on Monday to fight antisemitism in schools and universities, while the Education Department announced it was investigating five universities for alleged antisemitic harassment.

Israeli Hostage's Family Demand Answers Over Fate of His Wife and Children

The family of released hostage Yarden Bibas have made a plea for information over the fate of his wife Shiri and children, Ariel and Kfir, who were also kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 terror attack in southern Israel. Shiri's sister Dana Silberman-Sitton told reporters at the Sheba hospital in central Israel the family would "no longer accept uncertainty."

After Over 30 Years of Ties, Israel Opens Its First Embassy in Moldova

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Tuesday opened Israel’s first embassy in Moldova, over 30 years after the two countries established diplomatic relations. "This is a historic moment that marks a milestone in the relations between the countries," Sa’ar said while describing Moldova as "a friendly country to Israel."

Through his Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, Patriots CEO Robert Kraft released a new anti-hate commercial starring Tom Brady and Snoop Dogg in an effort to "stimulate a message to people from different backgrounds." The commercial will air during the Super Bowl.
