FSWC Calls on U of T to Cancel Speakers Who Defend Terrorists and Spread Antisemitic Tropes
In a letter to U of T President Meric Gertler, FSWC demanded the administration take quick action to cancel any events scheduled for Israeli Apartheid Week that will involve speakers who defend terrorism against Israeli civilians or spread antisemitic tropes and blatant falsehoods about Israel.
FSWC Demands Action from McMaster Admin on Upcoming Visit from Norman Finkelstein
FSWC has reached out to the president of McMaster University with demands for action after it was revealed today that notorious anti-Israel provocateur Norman Finkelstein has been scheduled to deliver a keynote lecture as part of the campus’s Israeli Apartheid Week events next month.

This week, the Tour for Humanity is in Simcoe County, educating more than 300 students in grades 5 to 8 about the Holocaust, Canada's human rights history and the story of Simon Wiesenthal. Meanwhile, our educator Elena has been travelling to schools in Ottawa providing workshops and educator Daniella is in London delivering a workshop to current students at the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Education and future educators, offering tools and techniques on how to better teach young students about the Holocaust and human rights issues.

‘Most Visible Jews’ Fear Being Targets as Antisemitism Rises
More than half of the 428 hate crimes in New York City last year targeted Jewish people, with many of the crimes committed in heavily Orthodox neighbourhoods. Community leaders say the risk of street violence is greater for Orthodox Jews who wear religious clothing like yarmulkes; black suits and hats; and wigs or other hair coverings in their daily lives.
Legal Roadblock Thrown Up Against Government’s Move to Deport Former Nazi living in Waterloo, Ont.
After the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal by Helmut Oberlander - a former member of a Nazi death squad - against the Canadian government's decision to revoke his citizenship, his lawyers have since requested to have the government's case against him dismissed on the grounds his citizenship was never expunged. If the government's request to dismiss the application is approved, Oberlander will be one step closer to deportation.
Record Number of Antisemitic Incidents Documented in the Netherlands
The Center for Information and Documentation on Israel recorded the highest number of antisemitic incidents ever observed in a calendar year in the Netherlands, with a total of 182 incidents recorded in 2019 - an increase of 35% from 2018. Real-life cases, including threats and assaults, saw the largest increase by more than doubling.
