More Must Be Done to Combat Antisemitism in Toronto, Say Jewish Groups
Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center is calling on leaders in government, law enforcement and education to do more to combat antisemitism after it was once again revealed that Toronto's Jewish community is the most frequently targeted for hate crime.
COVID-19 Fueling Worldwide Wave of Antisemitism, Researchers Find
A report published by researchers at the Kantor Center at Tel Aviv University founds that the coronavirus pandemic has "unleashed a unique worldwide wave of antisemitism" that "includes a range of libels that have one common element: The Jews, the Zionists and/or the state of Israel are to blame for the pandemic and/or stand to gain from it."
FSWC released its own report in April regarding the explosion of coronavirus-related antisemitism across social media, titled "Hate in the Time of Coronavirus," which looked at five interrelated themes of antisemitic expressions in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Germany Bans Neo-Nazi Group Nordadler
Yesterday Germany's Interior Ministry banned the neo-Nazi group Nordadler, becoming the third ban of a right-wing extremist group in Germany so far this year. The ministry said the group operated mainly online and members professed their allegiance to Adolf Hitler and other important representatives of the Nazi regime.
Roger Waters Hamas Interview Crosses the Line to Support Genocide
In an interview with Hamas terror group-affiliated Shehab News Agency on Saturday, anti-Israel BDS supporter Roger Waters claimed that the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis had been done using a technique invented by the Israeli military and taught to the US police by “Israeli experts," as well as stated "Zionism is an ugly stain, and it needs to be gently removed by us."
"Bigot Roger Waters should no longer be given platforms of greatest arenas in cities in the Americas and Europe. Nor should corporations sponsor his concerts," said Simon Wiesenthal Center's Rabbi Abraham Cooper.
Australia Takes a Stand Against Anti-Israel Bias
The Australian government has been commended after it was the only country to vote against all five anti-Israel resolutions passed at the UN Human Rights Council 43rd session. “Australia has been consistent in its principled opposition to biased and one-sided resolutions targeting Israel in multilateral forums,” the Australian Mission to the UN said.
