101-Year-Old Former Nazi Guard Sentenced to Five Years in Jail
Former Nazi guard Josef Schütze, aged 101, has been sentenced to five years in jail after a German court found him guilty of assisting in the murder of some 3,500 people at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp between 1942 and 1945.
FSWC welcomes the guilty verdict and hails the work of Simon Wiesenthal Center's chief Nazi-hunter, Efraim Zuroff, in bringing forward Holocaust survivors and victims' relatives to assist the prosecution.

Pope Francis Orders Online Release of Second World War-Era ‘Jewish’ Files
Pope Francis has ordered the online publication of 2,700 files of requests for Vatican help from Jewish groups and families, many of whom had been baptised as Catholics, after the begninng of Nazi persecution. Although the archive has been available for consultation by scholars since March 2020, Pope Francis requested they be accessible to everyone.

Unilever announced today that it has reached a new agreement with Ben & Jerry's Israeli licensee to sell the ice cream company's products throughout Israel. This comes after Ben & Jerry's announced its plans last July to no longer allow its products to be sold to Israelis in the West Bank.

Daniel Patt, a Google software engineer, has developed an artificial intelligence-driven facial recognition platform that can scan through photos from prewar Europe and the Holocaust, linking them to people living today. The platform is helping Holocaust survivors and their descendants find loved ones in Holocaust-era photos.
Germany: Over 2,700 Antisemitic Incidents Reported in 2021
The Department for Research and Information on Antisemitism, a group that tracks antisemitism in Germany, documented more than 2,700 antisemitic incidents in the country last year, including 63 attacks and six cases of extreme violence.
