1. FSWC Expresses Solidarity with London over Terrorist Attack

Four people, including a police officer have died after a terror attack near the British House of Commons in London. The suspect drove over civilians and stabbed and killed a police officer. At least 20 people were injured.

2. Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper Spoke at FSWC Top Donors Dinner, March 21

FSWC honoured its top donors of Spirit of Hope 2017 by hosting a dinner with the Right Honourable Stephen Harper. Harper powerfully expressed the importance of FSWC's mission in stating, "when I was Prime Minister, I looked at the world and I concluded that I had a pretty clear choice. Either we stand up for our values and our interests right on the frontline with Israel... or the greatest threats will come daily, right to our own shores. That is why all free people must support the State of Israel."

3. Israel Plans Mass Evacuations in Case of Attack by Hezbollah, Hamas

Israel has begun working on contingency plans to evacuate at least a quarter million Israeli civilians from border communities, should Israel come under attack from Hezbollah, Hamas, or other hostile groups in the region. The evacuation plans are reportedly the largest in Israeli history, and come after increasing concern with the growing threat of Hezbollah.

4. McGill Campus Continues BDS Campaign

On Tuesday, March 14, students and community members at McGill campus continued to promote the anti-Semitic Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) initiative against Israel. FSWC continues to denounce such initiatives and condemns the obvious bias against Israel. Given McGill's apparent concern for alleged human rights abuses, FSWC would also like to know, "Where is McGill's campaign against Syria, Iran or Saudi Arabia?"

5. Is Queens University losing its welcoming advantage to Jewish students?

FSWC expresses serious concern over the Principal and Vice-Chancellor's refusal to "shut down" a mock "checkpoint" on the Queens University campus. In conversation with FSWC, the Principal cited issues of free of speech for allowing the "checkpoint". 'Free speech' has been the excuse of universities across the country in defence of Israeli Apartheid Week and defamatory propaganda forced upon students unfamiliar with the complexity of the conflict. Universities in fact do cancel speakers all the time (sometimes due to mob rule) as articulated this week by Margaret Wente in the Globe and Mail - contrary to the defence of the free speech argument made by Queens University. In the case of Israeli Apartheid Week, it has traumatized and marginalized a generation of Jewish students. For this response, FSWC will put a caution alert for students attending Queens University.

5. FSWC at Work

ICYMI: On Friday, I published my thoughts on the decision by the UN-backed Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) to indict the State of Israel. On Saturday, following my denunciation of the ESCWA, and condemnation by like-minded human rights leaders across the globe, the Executive Secretary of the ESCWA, Rima Khalaf, announced her resignation. You can read my initial analysis here.PHILANTHROPY CORNERFSWC is a designated Canadian charitable organization that provides tax receipts for charitable contributions.
