A Call to Mobilize and Help the Medical Community

Along with the rest of the community, the Wiesenthal team applauds the work of the medical community at this difficult time. As a human rights organization, we have consulted with the medical community about its needs in the interest of mobilizing the community to help. We understand there is a need for masks, wipes, gloves, gowns, face shields and swabs for testing. We are putting out a call to dentists, private medical clinics, vet clinics and others to contact us for pick-up of these items. If you or anyone you know can donate these items, we would be happy to pick them up and deliver them to a local hospital. New Findings Released on Holocaust Awareness

Analysis conducted by Nanos Research on behalf of FSWC that was released earlier this month reveals that a majority of Canadians believe young people today are not taught enough about the Holocaust in schools as well as are less aware of the Holocaust and its lessons.

FSWC Praises Ontario Government's New Social Services Relief Funding

FSWC commends the Ontario government for its decision to provide $200 million in social services relief funding to protect the province's most vulnerable people amid the COVID-19 outbreak. According to a statement released earlier today, the province will provide funding to municipalities and organizations that administer social services - including shelters, food banks, emergency services, charities and non-profits.

Earlier today, Toronto Mayor John Tory declared a state of emergency for the city of Toronto amid the coronavirus pandemic and after public health officials in Ontario confirmed 78 new cases in the province. Declaring a state of emergency gives Tory the power to make decisions without council votes.

According to shocking intelligence gathered by the FBI, racist extremist groups are encouraging their members who contract novel coronavirus to spread the contagion to cops and Jewish people. The alert went out to local police agencies last week.

Neo-Nazis from U.S. and Europe Build Far-Right Links at Concerts in Germany

Between January and September 2019, there had been 132 far-right events and concerts held in Germany, according to the country's Interior Ministry. Neo-Nazis from the U.S. and Europe build links at these events and promote their movement as authorities reluctantly tolerate and monitor.

"Viruses come in many shapes and sizes," tweeted FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. "The Nazi virus continues to proliferate transnationally as haters join together to build their evil movement. But they fail to realize they are an echo from the past - good will always prevail!"

The Battle Against Antisemitism and Intolerance: A Testimony from an FSWC Supporter

"Of course we're all worried and concerned about ourselves and our loved ones. Who can blame us? But the end of this nightmare will arrive. I wish I could tell you when, but it will happen. And what kind of world will we be left with? A kinder world? A more tolerant world? A less antisemitic world? If history is a judge, the answer is an unequivocal "no".

What can we do about it? There is one organization that fearlessly continues the battle, the battle to change the world's perception of Jews. They do it one person at a time, one student at a time. Of course that would be the Simon Wiesenthal Center here in Toronto.
