During an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council yesterday following clashes on the Gaza border a day earlier, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley spoke out against the terror group Hamas and its encouragement to commit violent acts. “Who among us would accept this type of activity on your border? No one would,” she said. “No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has.”

Guatemala Officially Moves Embassy to Jerusalem

Guatemala officially opened its embassy in Jerusalem today, becoming the second country to make the move from Tel Aviv. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and held a private meeting with him prior to the ceremony. The next country to open its embassy in Jerusalem is Paraguay, with the opening scheduled for May 21 and President Horacio Cartes due to be in attendance.

Owen Sound Students Discuss Holocaust During Tour for Humanity Stop

The Tour for Humanity is travelling throughout Southwestern Ontario this week providing Holocaust and human rights education to students of all ages. Earlier this week the bus visited schools in Owen Sound before heading to Wiarton today and Port Elgin. The Tour for Humanity will also be making a stop at the Grey Bruce One World Festival in Owen Sound tomorrow, an annual festival that celebrates diversity.

German Bank Executives May Be Included on Top 10 List of Antisemitism Cases

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is considering including three executives of the German Bank for Social Economy (BFS) on its 2018 list of worst anti-Israel and antisemitic cases because of the bank's aggressive enabling of the BDS movement. The bank reportedly maintains at least four accounts that aid the BDS campaign. This is the first instance of a financial institution facing international criticism on SWC's list.

Today a Hamas official acknowledged that 50 of the 62 Palestinians reported killed during riots earlier this week are members of the terror group. “This proves what so many have tried to ignore: Hamas is behind these riots, and the branding of the riots as ‘peaceful protests’ could not be further from the truth,” said IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus.

While headlines were quick to claim that the election in Lebanon was a victory for Hezbollah, a recent opinion piece in The Hill reveals that the real take away from the election is that two thirds of the seats were won by candidates that align with the west over Iran. The Lebanese Forces, an anti-Hezbollah Christian party, saw an increase in seats, while President Michel Aoun’s Free Patriot Movement party is deeply divided with most members identifying as solidly pro-western.
