Canada Will Formally Apologize for Turning Away Jewish Refugees
Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) welcomed yesterday's announcement by Prime Miniser Justin Trudeau that Canada will be issuing an apology over the fate of the MS St. Louis. “While an apology can never change the past, it can awaken the national conscience to ensure such grave mistakes are never repeated in the future,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. Listen to Avi Benlolo discuss the importance of this apology on Zoomer Radio.

US Withdraws from Iran Nuclear Deal
FSWC joins the Simon Wiesenthal Center in commending the US for withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal. According to police statistics in France, Jews are 25 times more likely to suffer attacks than Muslims in the country.
Austrian Authorities Under Pressure to Stop Nazi Sympathizer Event
Austrian authorities are under pressure to stop an annual event that brings together thousands of Croatians to remember the 1945 killing of sympathizers of Croatia's Ustasha regime by communist partisans. The Ustasha were allied to Nazi Germany and persecuted and killed hundreds of thousands of people, including Jews. The event is known to draw neo-Nazis from across Europe and, according to Simon Wiesenthal Center's Efraim Zuroff, is "an affront to the memory of Holocaust victims."

From the Arab World

This renewed vow came after US President Donald Trump announced the US is pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal. There has been growing tension between Iran and Saudi Arabi over Iran's support for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have been attacking Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles.
