Canadian Teen Killed as Twin Bomb Blasts Shake Jerusalem

Two explosions at bus stops in Jerusalem that killed a 16-year-old Canadian-Israeli teenager resulted in countless condemnations and condolences from Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. NDP MPP Joel Harden Under Fire for Antisemitic Comments

NDP MPP Joel Harden (Ottawa Centre) apologized Sunday for antisemitic comments he made during an interview more than a year ago, stating, "I spoke in a way that perpetrated an antisemitic stereotype towards Jewish neighbours."

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center had denounced Harden's antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric and offered the opportunity for education. FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt stated, "The fact that (Harden) confronted ‘Jewish neighbours’ and challenged them on Israel’s actions in the Middle East is textbook antisemitism... We truly hope this incident serves as an opportunity to engage in a meaningful educational process with both Harden and the Ontario NDP.”

Antisemitic Attack Leaves Calgarians Shaken

Calgary-based Gary Broom says he was verbally attacked by a man who started swearing at him, shouting antisemitic language, including yelling, "The Holocaust never happened. It was a hoax." Police have charged the suspect with criminal harassment. FSWC is extremely disturbed by and denounces this incident that has shaken up a Jewish family living in the suspect's neighbourhood and other Calgarians.
