Newly Discovered Photos Show Nazi Kristallnacht Up Close

Israel's Yad Vashem memorial released previously unseen photographs from the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom against German and Austrian Jews on its 84th anniversary. The photos -  which help demonstrate how the German public was aware of what was going on - were taken by Nazi photographers and later wound up in the possession of a Jewish American serviceman.

Ontario Is Making Holocaust Education Mandatory For Younger Students & It Starts Next Year

Today, the Ontario government introduced new mandatory Holocaust education in elementary schools in an effort to combat rising antisemitism and hate.

"Recent studies amongst Canadian youth have revealed an overwhelming lack of knowledge about the history of the Holocaust, the ultimate example of what happens when hate is left unchecked," said Michael Levitt, the President and CEO of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies. "We commend the Ontario Ministry of Education for taking this monumental step in ensuring that the lessons from the Holocaust and the legacy of survivors are never forgotten."

Ontario Village Urged to Denounce Local Newspaper Publishing Hateful Material

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) and the Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice (CCNC-SJ) have voiced outrage over the recurrent hateful and offensive material targeting several vulnerable communities in a local newspaper, The Great North Arrow, published in Burk’s Falls, Ontario. Both FSWC and CCNC-SJ are calling on the Village Council to condemn the newspaper.
