FSWC Stands in Solidarity with Jewish School Targeted with Anti-Israel Graffiti

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is supporting and standing in solidarity with Leo Baeck Day School after its South campus was targeted with anti-Israel graffiti. According to an email from the head of Leo Baeck, Eric Petersiel, the slogan “Free Palestine” was found on the school’s sign, a Canadian flagpole and a UJA sign close to the school’s front entrance yesterday morning.

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Applauded for Work as a Defender of Human Rights

In light of her resignation, FSWC applauds Nikki Haley and her accomplishments as a UN ambassador who stood up for human rights and was a true leader and defender of the Jewish State of Israel. During Haley’s time at the UN, the world witnessed her counter anti-Israel bias and speak out against Palestinian incitement and terrorism as well as human rights offenders around the world.

Saskatchewan Deputy Premier and Trade Minister on Trade Mission to Israel

Saskatchewan’s Deputy Premier, Gordon Wyant, and Trade and Export Development Minister, Jeremy Harrison, are on a trade mission to Israel this week. The mission is focused on identifying new trade opportunities, highlighting investment opportunities in Saskatchewan, and encouraging Israeli companies to establish a presence in the province. “Following a successful recent visit by Canada’s minister of international trade diversification, it’s nice to see provinces also taking steps to build stronger ties with Israel,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo.

FSWC Condemns Antisemitic Attack on Toronto Councillor

FSWC condemns the antisemitic campaign recently posted on an online anti-Israel group calling for the eviction of a Jewish councillor from office because of his beliefs. In a statement sent to FSWC, Councillor James Pasternak said, “I am both shocked and saddened that a group is attacking me because I am Jewish and advocating for Jewish causes and the Jewish community.”

Action Alert: Buy Israeli Products!

FSWC was shocked to hear reports of BDS stickers being placed under Israeli products at a Metro store in Toronto. Just like the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses in 1933, this modern boycott movement is antisemitic and is meant to hurt the Jewish people of Israel.

"Both antisemitic campaigns are meant to marginalize, dehumanize and destroy the Jewish people," said FSWC's Avi Benlolo. "We have learned and decided to never ever let their hatred overpower us again. Go out and buy Israeli products, defend Israel and stand up to antisemitism."

Friends and family are remembering the victims of Sunday's tragic terror attack in the West Bank, Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel, 29, and Ziv Hajbi, 32. Levengrond-Yehezkel is survived by her husband and one-and-a-half year old son, while Hajbi leaves behind his wife and three children.

Morocco to Introduce Holocaust Studies Into ‎Country’s Education System

According to reports, Morocco has plans to incorporate Holocaust studies into the country's education system. The decision was made by King Mohammed VI of Morocco who told the education minister that Holocaust studies must be included in the country's high school curriculum. “The history we teach our children must include a ‎pluralistic variety of opinions and stories. It must ‎present humanity’s greatest moments, as well as its ‎darkest moments,” the king reportedly said.

Rise of Right-Wing Extremists Presents New Challenge for Canadian Law Enforcement Agencies

The number of right-wing extremist groups active in Canada has jumped 20 to 25 per cent, according to a researcher at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, bringing the total number of extremist groups to between 100 and 125 in the country. Canadian law enforcement is being presented with a new challenge as they have only recently begun to reassess the threat Canadian right-wing extremism poses.

Archaeologists Unearth 2000-Year-Old Hebrew 'Jerusalem' Inscription

Yesterday at the Israel Museum, the earliest inscription of the word Jerusalem written in Hebrew on a 2,000-year-old column drum was unveiled. The column drum, which was part of a building that stood in a Jewish potters village near Jerusalem, was discovered 10 months ago on an excavation site.

Rebel groups in Syria have reportedly withdrawn most heavy weapons from a planned demilitarized zone in Idlib, Syria to prevent an offense from the Assad regime. This comes after Russia and Turkey agreed to create a buffer zone between opposition and government forces in Idlib to avoid a fight that both the US and UN have warned would cause a humanitarian disaster.

State of the Union Honours Parents of Taylor Force

Taylor Force was just 28 years old when a Palestinian terrorist cut his life short on the Jaffa Promenade in Israel. Despite such a tragic loss, the Forces refused to do nothing. Stuart and Robbie successfully campaigned to have the Taylor Force Act passed by Congress, in turn ending American aid to the Palestinian Authority until it ceases paying stipends to terrorists.
