On Thursday, the perpetrator who wrote antisemitic messages on Victoria's Jewish community centre in April delivered a written apology to the families with children at the daycare, formally completing an intensive, months-long restorative justice process. That process gave the victims of this hate crime the opportunity to determine what reparations should look like, and it also gave the teenage perpetrator a chance to change, for the better.
'Put Your Star Away': Jewish Singer Refused Service at German Hotel
Hotel Westin in Leipzig, Germany faced accusations of shocking, blatant antisemitism on Tuesday after a musician said he was denied service for wearing a Star of David. In a video posted on social media, Gil Ofarim said he was told to put his Star of David away when he attempted to check in. The hotel has since said the employees concerned have been suspended while an investigation is underway.
Police Investigating After Antisemitic Graffiti Found at Auschwitz-Birkenau Site
Graffiti discovered on barracks at the Auschwitz Memorial included statements in English and German, as well as two references to often-used Old Testament sayings frequently used by antisemites, the Memorial said in a statement published on Twitter.
The antisemitic graffiti discovered at the site of Auschwitz-Birkenau is an affront to the memory of the more than 1.1 million victims who died at the death camp. The perpetrators of this horrific act must be found and brought to justice.
