Today was day 3 of the Holocaust Educator Certificate Course being held at Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center’s (FSWC)Tom & Anna Koffler Tolerance Training Centre. Historically, the course focused on the start of the Second World War, life in the ghetto along with the role of perpetrators, collaborators and bystanders. Some great lesson ideas were shared in class today by the participants, focusing on specific activities around perpetrators, collaborators and bystanders; unit overviews are also starting to come together.
Holocaust survivor Faigie Libman shared her personal testimony growing up as a child in Lithuania along with her experience surviving both ghettos and concentration camps – specific memories that she refers to as “miracles” were moving for everyone and illustrated the hope that can be found in such a dark period of human history.
