Toronto (March 16, 2026) – Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is outraged by virulent antisemitic imagery displayed yesterday at an anti-Israel demonstration in North York.

Demonstrators gathered at Bathurst St. and Sheppard Ave. West – in the heart of a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood – holding up posters featuring vile antisemitic caricatures and other images demonizing and dehumanizing Jews.

FSWC has filed a complaint with the Toronto Police Service, which is now investigating this hateful incident.

“This abhorrent display is yet another example of the systemic and sustained promotion of antisemitic sentiment and intimidation targeting Jews in Canada, and it comes at a time when Jewish institutions, including synagogues, are being attacked,” said FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt. “Week after week, for far too long, hateful protesters have been allowed to publicly spew antisemitic vitriol on this street corner. The line has been crossed repeatedly. Toronto police must lay charges, the Crown must prosecute, and the courts must make clear that promoting antisemitism on our streets carries serious consequences.”

“When protesters openly showcase antisemitic imagery, especially grotesque caricatures that demonize and dehumanize Jews, it fuels hostility, emboldens extremists and contributes to an increasingly unsafe environment for Jewish communities,” Levitt added. “Such displays are not only hateful – they are dangerous.”
