Today on International Women’s Day, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center recognizes the achievements and leadership of women around the world and calls for continued efforts to further women’s rights.
“Unfortunately, there are many countries where gender inequalities continue to exist and women are not offered enough support, including in areas such as education, employment and health care. This negatively impacts all of humanity,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “Countries like Canada and Israel serve as examples of how supporting women and providing them rights and freedom can help a nation thrive.”
Each day through its educational programs, FSWC empowers young people to stand up for human rights and equality, including women’s rights, and become change-makers in their communities. Its Women’s Rights Are Human Rights workshop educates and opens up discussions among students about past and current women’s rights issues and what steps can be taken to effect positive change.
