Toronto (February 5, 2020) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns a recent incident involving antisemitic graffiti in Calgary and is calling on police to thoroughly investigate it as a hate crime.

According to the Calgary Police Service, the graffiti found on Deerfoot Trail – which included the words “hate Jews” and a swastika – was spray painted either late Monday or early Tuesday.

“We thank the numerous passersby who were vigilant and reported the graffiti to the police as well as the Calgary police hate crimes unit for launching an investigation into this serious incident to send a message that spreading messages of hate will not be tolerated,” said FSWC president and CEO Avi Benlolo.

Crews arrived yesterday to paint over the graffiti.
