Toronto (December 24, 2019) - The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns the acts of targetted vandalism on an illuminated menorah which sits at a busy intersection in Ste-Agathe, Quebec.

The menorah, installed by the nearby House of Israel synagogue, has been repeatedly unplugged over the past two weeks and finally had its cord cut by vandals. FSWC has reached out to the Ste-Agathe detachment of Surete du Quebec to demand a quick and aggressive investigation.

“The menorah is a symbol of light and hope for all peoples,”said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC. “It is shocking that anyone would want to destroy such a beautiful symbol with an act of hate.”
