Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is disturbed by an Amherstburg, Ontario resident's decision to mow a swastika, a symbol of hatred, into the lawn outside his home over the weekend.

The swastika was removed following police involvement. Yesterday, dozens of people gathered outside the home to protest hate, and some ultimately engaged in conversation with the resident of the home.

"At a time when so many people are pained by injustice and hatred and are confronting these issues following the senseless murder of a Black man in Minneapolis, it's appalling that a person would use this time, of all times, to sow further seeds of hate," said Jaime Kirzner-Roberts, FSWC Director of the Campaign Against Antisemitism. "The swastika is symbol that reminds us of the horrific atrocities committed by Nazis and their collaborators during the Holocaust and what occurs when society fails to take words and acts of hate seriously. We commend Windsor police for their swift action in ensuring the removal of the swastika."
