Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies' (FSWC) Holocaust Educator Certificate Course was completed today by an incredible group of educators. This group of teachers from both Ontario and Saskatchewan have committed to ensuring the memory of the Holocaust is not forgotten. Each day this week they have grappled with not only difficult content, but the ethical and moral questions that accompany a topic like the Holocaust. They have investigated pre-war Jewish life along with the insidious antisemitism that laid the foundation for the Holocaust to occur, the rise of Nazism and the process of murder from the establishment of the Nuremberg Laws to the ghettos to the camps provided chilling evidence of the role of perpetrators, collaborators and bystanders. Finally, a look a resistance and the righteous - those who stood up in the face of evil, provided an overview of this important history. Most importantly, survivor testimony was shared, providing an eye-witness account to this history, and restoration of hope. Both survivors, Faigie Libman and Andy Reti, shared stories of love of family and hope for the future that inspired this room of educators to pass on the messages to their students.

We look forward to the journey that lies ahead for each educator!
