Today, Tour for Humanity was in Toronto at an international  private school. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) Educator was received very warmly first thing in the morning and the day only improved from there. Elena taught 4 workshops in total, all on The Canadian Experience for their Grade 6 students. As a result of the advanced knowledge that these kids possessed, Elena was able to have some very insightful discussions. Students had read a variety of books on the Holocaust including The Diary of Anne Frank, Night by Elie Wiesel, and Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, among others. Students were very curious about the Nazis and we talked about Hitler's personality and his final days at the end of the  war. Elena had several Ukrainian students in one of the workshops and they were proud to learn that Simon Wiesenthal came from their country. Elena also had some great conversations around Canadian history. Students had talked about residential schools so Elena was able to quiz them on the subject. One very interesting question on the subject came from a Chinese student who wanted to know if any Chinese people ended up in residential schools accidentally.
