As the school year is starting to wrap up, Tour for Humanity spent today at a public school in Oakville working with Grades 7 and 8 students. There were 6 Canadian Experience workshops on the bus today.

There were a lot of good questions, particularly regarding the Holocaust and Japanese Internment Camps. The first class of the day, Grade 7, had a few boys who were quite well read in the Holocaust and wanted to know more about Hitler’s suicide, so Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) Educator Daniella discussed that topic along with conspiracy theories like Hitler’s survival.

When discussing Japanese Internment, there were questions about the Canadian government enacting such a racist policy. Daniella reminded the classes that Canada was not always the country we know today and that it is important for us to always be aware of the past.
