Dear Andrew Scheer,

We at Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center welcome the news that the Conservative Party of Canada has adopted a resolution recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and endorsing moving Canada’s embassy to the city. As stated in your pledge from earlier this year, Israel is a sovereign nation that has the right to determine where its capital is located.

Since the establishment of the state of Israel 70 years ago, Jerusalem has been Israel’s capital and continues to serve as the home of the country’s legislature and supreme court. Thus, this is an excellent policy move that should be adopted by all government parties.

On behalf of the organization’s 30,000 Canadian members, we appreciate the Conservative Party’s strong support of the Canadian Jewish community and applaud party members for doing the right thing.

Sincerely,
