Toronto (June 4, 2020) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is responding to a report it received earlier today of a home with swastikas plastered on its window in the area of Dupont and Christie Streets in Toronto.

FSWC received the complaint from a community member in the area and has reached out to the Toronto Police Service Hate Crimes Unit and local city councillor Mike Layton requesting an immediate investigation and help to ensure the hateful display is taken down.

"The swastika is a symbol of hate that has no place anywhere, but especially in a city like Toronto that prides itself on diversity," said Jaime Kirzner-Roberts, FSWC's Director of the Campaign Against Antisemitism. "We are calling for an immediate investigation into this matter and the removal of this hateful display that has brought about unease among local residents."

UPDATE (June 5, 2020): Following FSWC's outreach to the Toronto Police Hate Crimes Unit and local City Councillor Mike Layton, the swastikas were removed from the home's front window last night. We thank Toronto police and Councillor Layton for their assistance.
