Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is saddened by news that at least 19 people were killed in the senseless shooting rampage that occurred in Portapique, Nova Scotia over the weekend.
The mass shooting is considered the deadliest in Canadian history. One of the identified victims was an RCMP officer, Const. Heidi Stevenson.
"All of us at FSWC grieve for the terrible loss of life in Nova Scotia today and send our heartfelt condolences to the families, including the brave police officer who was also killed," said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. "Over the years I have made many friends in policing and have come to deeply admire and respect them...Constable Heidi Stevenson was a true Canadian hero."
