TORONTO (January 24, 2018) - Friends of Simon WiesenthalCenter (FSWC) is urging the federal NDP to not allowan anti-Israel resolution to be presented at the upcoming NDP convention.

Last week FSWC sent a letter to NDP PresidentMarit Stiles, outlining the organization’s concerns regarding the proposed“Palestine Resolution”, which includes text calling for the NDP to support theBDS movement.

In the letter, FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo states thatthe troubling resolution “seeks to demonize and delegitimize Israel whileoffering a decidedly one-sided portrayal of the complex Israel-Palestine issue”and urges Stiles to “disallow this divisive and one-sided resolution to beincluded in the convention’s agenda.”

Benlolo goes on to state thatthe resolution ismisleading and paints Israel as a villain, failing to mention theviolence perpetrated by Palestinians and the willingness of the Palestinian Authority tosupport that violence. The resolution is also in “direct contraventionof the anti-BDS motion passed in federal parliament in 2016.”
