Earlier today, thousands of Canadian students were empowered to make a positive difference in their communities at the 14th annual Freedom Day, hosted by Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Held at the City Playhouse Theatre just north of Toronto, where more than 300 York Region students gathered, and live streamed to more than 5,000 students in classrooms across Ontario and beyond, Freedom Day featured several inspiring speakers who shared their powerful stories and words of wisdom that encouraged students to overcome hurdles and make an impact.

Holocaust survivor Gershon Willinger, activist and author Hannah Alper and Olympic bronze medalist Akeem Haynes shared their impactful messages, along with Speaker's Idol 2024 first-place winner Kaitlyn Ho sharing her winning speech and special performances from Canadian singer-songwriter Brian Melo. The event was MC’d by television and radio personality Rick Campanelli.
