TORONTO, ON (May 23,2017) – Today,the United States President Donald Trump made remarksat the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, one day before the commemoration of YomYerushalayim - also known as Jerusalem Day. Trump recognizes Jerusalem as ‘ancient and eternal’ to theJewish people.
“Jerusalem is a sacred city. Its beauty,splendor, and heritage are like no other place on earth,” stated Trump duringhis speech in Jerusalem today. “The ties of the Jewish people to this Holy Landare ancient and eternal. They date back thousands of years, including the reignof King David whose star now flies proudly on Israel’s white and blue flag.”
Trump’s speech comes with significant timing, as YomYerushalayim – which commemorates Jerusalem's reunification in 1967 – beginstonight. “As we head into Yom Yerushalayim, Donald Trump gives hope tothe Jewish people and the people of Israel. We hope the rest of the world willfollow suit and not only recognize Israel as the land of the Jewish people, butstrive for peace and tolerance everywhere” stated FSWC President and CEO, AviBenlolo.
