The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies on Wednesday released a statement regarding what local law enforcement agencies have classified as hate crimes. These include the vandalism of a white Cadillac SUV with the message “FU ARAB” in spray paint Aug 27, and racist messages spray painted at a Windsor walking trail and Tecumseh’s Lacasse Park discovered on Labour Day.
Similar incidents have occurred at multiple public and private properties in Tecumseh throughout August. At several locations, swastikas were spray painted on various surfaces.
“It is extremely concerning that the area of Windsor and Tecumseh has been experiencing such a wave of hate graffiti,” Avi Benlolo, president of the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, said in a news release. “Residents must be vigilant and report any information to police, while police and city and town officials must invest resources and time into ensuring the perpetrators are apprehended.”
