Tour for Humanity bus stops at Oakville's Munn's school (Article in Oakville Beaver)

“This bus is really cool,” remarked a young boy with a big grin as he disembarked from the Tour for Humanity mobile education centre parked next to Munn’s public school on Monday.

The $1.2M, 30-seat bus, a project of the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC), is a technologically state-of-the-art vehicle, equipped inside with three large screens, pulldown theatre-style seating, and enlarged photos of inspiring leaders and their quotes.

With an onboard facilitator, its purpose is to disseminate information about history and human rights, empowering people of all ages, “to raise their voices and take action against hate, intolerance and bullying…”

The bus was parked at Munn’s for two days this week as students rotated through 45-minute interactive presentations which ultimately, encouraged them “to make a positive impact on the world.”

FSWC education associate Daniella Lurion took a group of Gr. 6 students on a brief journey through time to the Holocaust. Wiesenthal believed that the Holocaust was not just a Jewish tragedy, but a human one and that the whole world had suffered, she said.
