Today, Tour for Humanity was at a Catholic school in Bradford, working with Grades 4 and 8 students. There were 6 workshops on the bus during the day, a mixture of Simon’s Story and the Canadian Experience.
There were 4 Grade 4 classes on the bus, all of which were full of entertaining comments and interesting questions. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) Educator Daniella noticed right away that the students had very little knowledge about the Holocaust, which allowed her to really give them a good age-appropriate overview. After this, the questions didn’t stop. One student wanted to know what would happen if someone in a concentration camp didn’t do their job and whether that person’s family would be hurt. Daniella took the class through a bit of background on propaganda and how the Nazis used fear to their advantage.
Daniella also discussed how Simon Wiesenthal was targeted simply because he was Jewish, and she reminded the class that when they see someone being bullied it is often also someone being targeted because of who they are.
