Today Tour for Humanity had a very eventful day at an elementary school in Barrie. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) Educator Daniella worked with six classes of Grades 4-8 students: three taking part in the Canadian Experience Workshop and another three groups participating in the Simon’s Story presentation.
Working with younger students always results in interesting anecdotes and today did not disappoint. From one student who considered playing video games a “human right” to another who thought Daniella might be 11 years old because his sister is 11 and “she’s also tall”- the students were full of thoughts and opinions that they were ready to share. In all seriousness, there was also a lot of learning that took place on the bus today. For many of the younger students this was their first introduction to the Holocaust, while the older students worked on ways to be proactive heroes in their own communities.
